Royal Berkshire Hospital, located in the heart of Reading, provides acute patient care for 800 inpatients while serving over 20,000 items of crockery, trays, and cutlery daily. The hospital’s ongoing refurbishment programme included a significant upgrade to its kitchen and dishwashing areas, ensuring operations remain efficient and aligned with the hospital’s commitment to patient care.
HOBART UK delivered a comprehensive, turnkey solution to meet the hospital’s high-demand requirements, managing the project from initial design through to installation, training, and commissioning.
The efficiency of the hospital’s dishwashing and pot-washing areas is vital to its daily operations. To address this, HOBART removed the existing dishwashers in the main kitchen and training areas, replacing them with cutting-edge HOBART equipment. To ensure uninterrupted service during the transition, HOBART installed a loan machine, allowing operations to run smoothly with minimal downtime.
The hospital’s main pot-washing area underwent a complete refurbishment, including the installation of two HOBART FTNi 3S A-R DS5 AS-R Twinline Flight Dishwashers, polycord conveyors, and tray stackers. This state-of-the-art system allows staff to handle the high daily volume efficiently, ensuring that patients receive prompt and high-quality care.
The project was led by Paul Ricketts, HOBART UK’s National Account Manager, with installation and commissioning handled by HOBART Service’s expert Installation Technicians, Kevin Dart, Kevin Russell, and Dave Mellor. The team’s professionalism and expertise ensured the seamless integration of the new systems into the hospital’s operations.
